Every event is a full ceremony conducted with proper etiquette and respect. Flags are retired the right way, in front of the people who care about them.
All Are Welcome
Open to Everyone
Families, kids, Scouts, veterans, and neighbors are all welcome. Bring a flag that's ready for retirement, or just come and be part of it.
Education First
A Lesson Along the Way
At every ceremony, we take time to teach — what the flag represents, how to fold it, how to fly it, and how to retire it. Nobody leaves without learning something.
Veteran Tribute
Veterans Honored by Name
Many ceremonies include our Veteran Tribute Program, where a veteran's story is read aloud and a flag is retired in their honor.
World Record Attempt
Going for a World Record
On the Fourth of July, Old Glory Retirement Foundation is attempting a world record for the most American flags retired simultaneously. It's an enormous undertaking, and it's exactly the kind of statement this mission deserves — thousands of flags, retired at once, with honor.
