Retired With Honor

Every Flag Deserves a Dignified Final Salute

A veteran-led foundation retiring America's worn flags with honor — and teaching the next generation why it matters.

Retired With Honor

There's a Right Way to Say Goodbye to a Flag

Almost every American household has one — a flag that's flown through years of weather and is finally ready to come down. Most folks don't know what to do next, and a flag that served faithfully deserves better than a drawer or a trash can. Old Glory Retirement Foundation is the answer. We retire worn American flags with the ceremony, respect, and dignity they've earned, and we teach communities across Southwest Ohio how to honor the flag properly at every step.

Our Mission

A Duty We're Honored to Carry

Founded in 2025 and made up of roughly 90% veterans, Old Glory Retirement Foundation has taken on flag retirement duties for our region of Ohio. When a flag is ready for retirement, we make sure it's retired the right way — with ceremony, with respect, and with people who understand exactly what that cloth represents.

Next Generation

Teaching the Next Generation

Our most important work happens with young people. We partner with Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, and the Young Marines, and we adopt elementary classrooms — bringing students to ceremonies and teaching them proper flag etiquette firsthand. Because a flag retired with honor teaches one lesson, and a child who learns why teaches a hundred more.

What People Are Saying

Folded American flag memorial

My father's flag sat folded in our closet for six years because I couldn't bear to throw it away and didn't know what else to do. Watching the Old Glory team retire it — with his name read aloud — gave our whole family peace. I'll never forget it. — Kathleen Doyle
